 India launches standardised medical insurance cover for vector-borne diseases

 

India’s first standardised medical insurance policy-MashakRakshak for vector-borne diseases is launched and offered to customers from 1stApril 2021. The medical policy offer a maximum sum assured between Rs 10000 and Rs 2 lakh on diagnosis and hospitalization for diseases such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya and Zika fever. The tenure of the policy has been fixed as twelve months. Customers will have to renew their premiums once the tenure lapses. Insurance companies have been allowed to specify premiums as per their assessment, however, it must be on a “pan India basis and no geographic location or zone-based pricing is allowed.”
