Dengue in Bangalore


Officials said the number of people affected by dengue has gradually increased by over 12%, with as many has 563 new cases registered. The number of cases reported by the civic body till 11th August is 4,443 cases but by 14th August, the number had risen to 5,006 cases.

 

The East Zone was severely affected with dengue and reported nearly 1,937 confirmed cases since January 2019. Similarly, Bengaluru South recorded 786 cases, followed by Mahadevapura 760 cases. Dasarahalli Zone has reported the 116 dengue cases.

 

Among the wards, Hoysalanagar has reported 213 cases followed by New Tippasandra (186), and Benniganahalli (163). To tackle the problem, Bruhat Bengaluru MahanagaraPalike (BBMP) has taken up door-to-door survey in worst-affected areas/wards and creating awareness among the populace on how to identify breeding spots. Similarly, Health officials have concluded that the rise in dengue cases due to various reasons, including intermittent rains and water-logging.
