Efforts by Tata Steel to Tackle Dengue: To prevent spread of Dengue in Kalinganagar and its nearby areas, an exclusive 60 member Dengue Prevention Team of Tata Steel under the leadership of an entomologist, comprising of highly skilled operators and supervisors, is working on war foot basis. A truck mounted fogging machine, specially brought from Jamshedpur for the purpose, is being used for fogging at a massive scale at the plant site at Kalinganagar and its periphery. It has already covered the plant site, labour colonies, and rehabilitation colonies of Tata Steel at Gobarghati, Trijanga, Sansailo and independent rehabilitation at Ramathenga. Nineteen teams are executing the Dengue prevention activities at the plant site. Mass cleaning of various sites inside the plant is being carried out on a regular basis. Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), the CSR arm of Tata Steel, has also intensified fogging and larvicidal spray in villages located in and around Kalinganagar. To boost awareness which is critical for prevention of such diseases, Tata Steel has intensified awareness campaign on Dengue and Malaria. Massive awareness programmes are being organised not only in the plant site, but also in labour colonies and other villages of the area.
