COVID-19 cases see a surge in India

As of May 19, the number of active COVID-19 cases in India stands at 257, however, the current COVID-19 situation in India remains under control. Since 12 th May 2025, Kerala has reported the highest number of new cases (69), followed by Maharashtra (44) and Tamil Nadu (34). Other states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Sikkim have seen low single-digit case counts. As per the preliminary information available, the cases are mostly mild, not associated with unusual severity. The elderly and immunocompromised individuals should follow COVID-appropriate behavior like maintaining hand hygiene, wearing masks, and avoiding crowded places.
