Dengue outbreaks in India

Dengue cases in Hyderabad, Telangana

The recent spell of rain has caused an increase in dengue fever in Hyderabad city. Hyderabad has reported 120 new cases of dengue in the first seven days of August out of the 182 cases recorded across the state. Hyderabad accounts for 70% of dengue cases recorded in the state currently. Telangana recorded 360 cases of which Hyderabad accounted for 164 cases in the month of July.

Dengue cases in Jammu & Kashmir

A total of 26 dengue cases were registered across the Jammu region while 3 cases were identified in Kashmir. Of the total 29 positive dengue cases, 18 positive cases were detected in Jammu; one in Samba; one in Kathua; three in Udhampur; two in Poonch district, one outstation case, and three dengue cases from Kashmir valley.

Dengue case in Tengnoupal, Manipur

A 23-year-old died of dengue shock syndrome at Moreh and is reportedly the state's first Dengue casualty this year. 113 dengue cases have been detected in Manipur until August this year. Of the 16 districts of the state, Imphal West district reported the highest number of vector-borne diseases.

Dengue spread in East Singhbum, Jharkhand

A total of 74 dengue cases have been reported from parts of the Jamshedpur and Govindpur areas in East Singhbhum district in the month of August 2023. Besides, seven cases have been reported from Chakulia.

Rise of Dengue cases in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh

The outbreak of dengue has started increasing in Dhar district including the city. A total of 32 dengue cases have been reported from the areas of Sitapat, Padaliya villages in the first five days of August 2023.

Dengue outbreak in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh

Dengue cases have started increasing rapidly in Sirmaur district of the state. The health department has made dengue test kits available in rural areas, and medicines have been supplied in sufficient quantity in the health centers. Along with the fogging activities, people in the villages are also being made aware of dengue. 

Dengue in Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh

Dengue has started hitting Kanpur amid heat and rain. Three dengue cases were recorded in the first three days of August month. A total of 30 active dengue patients were admitted to the hospital in the month of August.
