Two persons have died of influenza caused by the H3N2 virus, one person in Haryana and the other in Karnataka. The first death of H3N2 was confirmed in Karnataka's Hassan district where an 82-year-old man died due to H3N2 on 01 March, 2023. He had symptoms of fever, cough, and breathlessness. The patient had comorbidities including hypertension, asthma, and acute kidney injury. A total of 16 H3N2 cases have been reported in Karnataka from January to March 2023 and around 90 cases of the H3N2 virus have been reported in the country.
