Swine flu outbreak in Mumbai, Maharashtra

 

There has been an upsurge in the number of H1N1 or Swine flu cases, across Maharashtra with the highest number of infections in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur, Kolhapur and Nashik. From January till mid-August 2022 at least 1,449 persons were detected with swine flu and 43 persons died of this infection. Out of the 43 deaths, 13 are from Pune, six from Nashik, five from Thane and four from Nagpur. Swine flu has been creating a chaos in Mumbai city by recording 138 cases with in a span of 15 days (August 1-14) along with 412 malaria cases and 73 dengue cases. However, the case count of swine flu cases increased when compared with the previous month July where 105 swine flu, 61 dengue and 563 malaria cases were recorded. Maharashtra has seen 3,735 deaths due to swine flu since the pandemic in 2009.
