Diarrhea in Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh

At least six people of Morriguda village in Visakhapatnam tribal area died due to diarrhea in the month of January 2022. Many people have been hospitalized even as the disease is yet to be brought under control.

 

‘Stealth Omicron’ cases in Nagaland

Nagaland has reported 54 Omicron cases, out of which 49 were of the BA.2 sub lineage of Omicron variant of Covid-19. Dubbed as BA.2, the sub-variant of Omicron (BA.1) hasn’t been classed as a variant of concern (VoC) by World Health Organization (WHO), popularly known as ‘Stealth Omicron’.

 

Kyasanur Forest Disease (Monkey fever) reported in Wayanad, Kerala

A 24-year-old man from Panavally tribal settlement in Thirunnelli grama panchayat has been inflicted with the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) or more commonly known as monkey fever. Monkey fever is a tick-borne viral hemorrhagic fever endemic to the southern part of the country. The disease is caused by a virus belonging to the family Flaviviridae, which also includes yellow fever and dengue fever, which are transmitted by monkeys. This is the first case of monkey fever reported in Kerala in the present year.

 

Black fungus in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh

Amongst the decreasing number of Covid-19 cases, a new case of mucormycosis (Black Fungus) has been reported during the Third Wave of Covid-19 in Khargone. A 37-year-old woman, a resident of Khargone, found suffering from mucormycosis and it is the first case of mucormycosis in the Third Wave of Covid-19.

 

Japanese encephalitis and swine flu knocked in East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand

The four samples of Corona patients are also being found infected with Japanese Encephalitis and Swine Flu in East Singhbhum district. All these patients are residents of Gamharia, Velco and Bagbeda.
