 Scrub typhus in Himachal Pradesh

 

A total of 284 cases of scrub typhus have been detected in Himachal Pradesh and five people have died due to the bacterial disease this year so far. Scrub typhus is a bacterial infection caused by orientia tsutsugamushi bacteria and is caused by the bite of infected larval mite (chigger), which is mainly found in shrubs. It is spread by fleas that feed on grass-fed insects. The symptoms of scrub typhus are fever, muscle pain, headache, cough and gastrointestinal problems.

 

Dengue and viral fever in Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh

 

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a devastating dengue outbreak has caused chaos across India with Uttar Pradesh being the worst-hit state in the country. Over the past month, nearly 300 people including children have been admitted to Kanpur hospitals following dengue, malaria and viral fever outbreak in the city.
