Dengue in Maharashtra and Gujarat
Maharashtra state has reported 11 deaths due to dengue related complications till August, out of which 6 are from Nagpur and one each from Chandrapur, Wardha, Bhandara, and Ahmednagar and Thane. From January till August 8, a total of 2,554 cases have been confirmed with dengue and 928 with chikungunya in Maharashtra. There are a total of 191 and 266 cases alone in Nagpur district and Nagpur municipal areas respectively. While Nashik district and Nashik municipal areas recorded 110 and 353 dengue cases respectively. Pune district reported 134 dengue cases while there 117 cases in Pune municipal corporation areas and 36 in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Kolhapur-112 dengue cases, Solapur-98 cases, 77-Greater Mumbai, 47-Dhule, 137 cases-Wardha and 88 in Yavatmal. Dengue has also started rising in Vadodara. 12 dengue cases were reported in the city on August 10th & 11th and 12 persons had tested positive for dengue virus in Vadodara.
