Zika virus infection in Maharashtra
Maharashtra state has reported its first-ever case of Zika virus infection. A 50-year-old woman patient from Purandar tehsil in Pune district has been tested positive for Zika virus infection. Out of 41 blood samples collected from Belsar and Parinche village’s people between 27th and 29th July, 25 tested positive for Chikungunya, three for Dengue and one for Zika virus. Meanwhile, two more people, including a minor girl, were found infected with the Zika virus on Saturday in Kerala, taking the total cases in the state to 63. Out of the 63 cases, three are active and none of them are hospitalised.
