680 new dengue cases in Delhi

October 1st week sees 680 new dengue cases
 
680 fresh cases of dengue have been reported from Delhi in the first week of October, taking the total number of affected people this season to 4,545. The report, released by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Monday, revealed that the number of malaria and chikungunya cases recorded in the city till October 7 was 1,032 and 638, respectively.
 
Dengue has, so far, claimed one life in the Capital. Of the total 4,545 cases, 2,152 were residents of Delhi, while the rest were from other states. Of the 2,152 Delhi cases, 345 were reported in the last month, the report stated.
 
At least 21 deaths due to dengue were reported last year from various city hospitals, including nine at AIIMS. One of the worst outbreaks of chikungunya was occurred in the year 2016, when 12,221 cases were reported till December 24, 2016, and of these, 9,749 were confirmed.
