Dengue and Chikungunya cases in various parts of India

Chikungunya in Ahmedabad
The city has witnessed a sudden spurt in chikungunya cases over the last two weeks. According to the weekly health report from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, cases of chikungunya doubled in one week, going from 16 to 34. Against this, only 14 cases were reported in the city all of last year.

Chikungunya and Dengue outbreak in Bhopal
At least two or more patients being treated for dengue or chikungunya in private hospitals in Bhopal as per health department estimates. Last week around 100 dengue and 40 chikunguya cases were diagnosed in Bhopal, making it one of the worst weeks on record. With dengue cases set to cross 400 and chikunguyna surpassing a 100 cases, even government hospitals are finding it difficult to cope with the influx of patients. District JP hospital overloaded with dengue cases is now referring patients to Gandhi medical college run associated hospitals.

Over 10, 000 chikungunya cases reported in Delhi
Chikungunya cases in Delhi have crossed the 10,000-mark this season, with nearly 2,800 of them being reported in the last week, according to a municipal report released today. The dengue cases, meanwhile, continued to plateau in the national capital with 3,333 cases being recorded till October 22 this season.

Dengue and Chikungunya in Jalandhar
With 23 new positive cases of chikungunya and the total cases of the ailment in the Jalandhar district have reached 108. Notably, with 30 more dengue cases reported, the number of dengue cases in the district has already reached 402.

Chikungunya in Mumbai 
The health officers of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed eight patients in public and private hospitals across the city were suffering from chikungunya. The symptoms in patients are acute fever, lasting for 2-5 days, which goes up to 10 days. Health officers said all patients are being given Acetaminophen and Paracetamol to reduce fever and pain. The cases are reported across age groups.

Chikungunya in New Delhi
With the municipal corporation confirming 1,473 fresh chikungunya cases in the last one week, a record 6,712 people have been afflicted by the vector-borne disease in the national Capital this year so far. On the other hand, 578 dengue cases were reported in the last one week taking the total number of cases to 2,711 this year. According to the civic body report released on Monday, out of 8,456 suspected cases of chikunguyna, 6,712 cases had been confirmed positive this year. Last year, Delhi had reported only 64 chikungunya cases. This year the case of chikungunya registered an alarming increase, a municipal official said.

Chikungunya in Jaipur
Chikungunya, the vector borne disease has turned into a nightmare to the people of the Jaipur city with 40 fresh cases were detected. According to the official figures of the health department, the number of Chikungunya cases has gone up to 418 till now with no signs of abating. Hospitals are flooded with patients complaining of chikungunya and viral fever.

Dengue and chikungunya in Gurgaon
Four new dengue and two chikungunya cases have been confirmed in the city, taking the total number of dengue cases to 61 and chikungunya to 25. As the official count of those affected with vector-borne diseases in the city reaches 86  in this season.

Vector-borne infections are at a seasonal high in Bhopal with nine more patients tested positive for dengue and two more patient tested positive for chikungunya. Health officials are on alert with fears of outbreak of increasing cases of dengue and chikungunya.

Dengue and chikungunya in Ludhiana
Six positive cases of dengue and seven positive cases of chikungunya were reported at various hospitals in Ludhiana. With this, the total number of positive dengue cases from the city has  reached 237. Meanwhile, seven more tested positive for chikungunya and the count of positive patients from Ludhiana has reached 15.

Dengue and chikungunya in Chandigarh
Thirty-five fresh cases of dengue and nine of chikungunya were reported from Chandigarh. Mohali district recorded 14 fresh cases of dengue and Panchkula reported 7. The tricity total has climbed to 1,341. Meanwhile, a surveillance drive was carried out by the anti-malaria wing of the UT Health Department at Bapu Dham Colony.

As many as 47 cases of dengue and 19 cases of chikungunya have so far been confirmed from the Agra city. Even as several people have been reported by several private hospitals, according to the district health department, one has died of died of these two vector-borne disease till.
